FORMER US SENATOR, GEORGE LEMIEUX, ENDORSES RICHARD DENAPOLI

Conservative US Senator Cites DeNapoli’s Small Business Acumen as well as his Commitment to Solutions Oriented Leadership

Nokomis, FL – Today, businessman, former prosecutor, and Republican Party leader, Richard DeNapoli, earned the endorsement of Former United States Senator, George LeMieux.

In endorsing Richard, Senator LeMieux said,

“Richard DeNapoli is dedicated to solving the problems that face Floridians today and rising to the opportunities that can make Florida an even better place to live and work in the future. As a prosecutor, Richard fought hard to ensure that those who would prey on our kids, our seniors, and law abiding Floridians were prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. As a small business owner, Richard knows that the entrepreneur and the American worker create prosperity, not government.  As a former local party Chairman, Richard knows that to build our party again, we need candidates who will govern with a servant’s heart. Richard is that candidate and that is why Iendorse Richard for State House, and look forward to his service in Tallahassee.”

Upon receiving the endorsement, Richard DeNapoli said,

“I am truly honored and humbled to have Senator LeMieux’s support and endorsement. During his time in the United States Senate, George LeMieux distinguished himself as a serious, dedicated, and conservative public servant who consistently supported the interests of working Americans and fought against bailouts and crony capitalism. His legislative example is one of selfless service and a commitment to core principles. I thank him for his support, his friendship, and look forward to seeking his advice in Tallahassee.”

Senator George LeMieux serves as Chairman on the Board of Directors at Gunster law firm. Previously, Senator LeMieux was a shareholder with Gunster, working with the firm from 1994 through 2002 and again from 2008 until 2009. He served as Florida’s 34th United States Senator from 2009-2010. Senator LeMieux previously served as the Governor’s Chief of Staff and as Deputy Attorney General for the State of Florida.

A successful leader of the Broward County GOP Party is now turning his sights on Sarasota.

Attorney and Certified Financial Planner Richard DeNapoli announced today he is entering the race for the heavily Republican Florida House District 74 seat, which covers most of Sarasota County. The seat is currently held by term-limited Rep. Doug Holder.

“From property insurance to Medicaid and from education to pensions, Florida faces serious challenges that require methodical and thoughtful planning,” DeNapoli said in an announcement. “I’ve spent my entire career assisting moms, dads, seniors, and working Americans plan for the future. I intend to use that experience to help meet the challenges facing Florida’s future.”

DeNapoli was appointed as a Commissioner in the Florida Real Estate Commission in 2007, and was reappointed and confirmed by the Florida Senate.  He was also elected chair of the FREC from 2010-2011. He began his stint in the Broward Republican Party as Treasurer in 2010 and elected chair in December 2012.  In addition, Richard has actively championed Republican candidates in both New York and Florida.

As Chairman of the Broward Republican Executive Committee, DeNapoli, a Florida native, has developed a reputation as a strong GOP fundraiser. He received high marks from conservatives as “textbook case” for organizational success in one of the largest counties in the state, boosting party development, reaching out to constituents and supporting local candidates.

“My wife and I recently welcomed our first child into the world,” DeNapoli said about his son Victor, who was born August 2012. “For his future, and the future of all Floridians, it is essential to continue the fight to keep Florida on the path to economic recovery by sticking to our conservative principles. I look forward to engaging in a serious debate on the issues and am excited to launch this campaign.”
